Management & CV’s

SecondWind’s founder and CEO, Jean M Richards, is well known throughout the shipping industry, both in her role as an expert witness and as a work out specialist for problem shipping loans. She has been in the shipping industry since 1973.  Her broad commercial experience has covered dry bulk, containers, tankers, gas and passenger vessels. Jean has worked in a number of posts: Marketing Manager of Seabridge, the large bulk carrier consortium; Development Analyst for the Gulf Group companies; Strategic Planning Manager for Gotaas Larsen; Director of Magma Services Ltd and Director of Fairwind shipping Ltd, 1984 to 2004. Jean is a Liveryman in the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, a member of the Baltic Exchange, a non-executive director of Cambridge Academy of Transport and non-executive chairman of Datatrac Ltd.

In the late 1990’s Fairwind was responsible for managing the largest shipping work out ever undertaken, repossessing a fleet of 49 vessels owned by Adriatic Tankers. Fairwind became commercial managers of 16 of these vessels and was responsible for disposing of the remainder in a range of jurisdictions. Jean left Fairwind Shipping in 2004 to set up Quantum Shipping Services concentrating on the aspects of shipping that interest her most – expert witness cases, project consultancy, distressed loan work out and due diligence – and in order to provide a truly independent consultancy to the market.

Commercial Manager, John M Sullivan, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport(UK), has a degree in Business Studies and is an experienced sale & purchase broker, who has built up an extensive network within the maritime community and a successful client base among private and public ship owners. During his 30+ year career, John has worked, globally, in cooperation with all the established shipbrokers in London, Piraeus, Hong Kong and elsewhere. Amongst other things, he specializes in providing reliable, independent valuations of various types of vessel. John was a member of the Baltic Exchange, for over 20 years,  contributing operational and commercial ship management expertise to the SecondWind team.
